Former Wicker Park resident coordinates part of President Obama's trip to Norway

Political and economic officer at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway, since April 2007, Scott Sommers coordinated security and other activities in advance of President Obama's visit to Norway for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremonies.

Scott was three when he moved to Hoyne Avenue in Wicker Park with his parents Nick and Carol in 1977.  He attended Latin School until his father's job caused the family to move to the Netherlands.  After graduating from The American School of the Hague in Netherlands, Scott went on to Yale where he majored in economics.  He received his J. D. from Northwestern Law School.  Before joining the Foreign Service in 2004. Scott worked for the Chicago law firm of Sidley and Austin.
