Trash the Dress…the wedding dress!
"Brides used to save their dress for their daughters but that is not what happens now. They trash them," explained photographer Melissa Diep who holds a "Trash the Dress Shoot" each season.
Some thirty photographers and five models were part of this shoot. Broken into three groups, one group was at the corner of Hoyne and Concord on Sunday. These shoots give wedding photographers a chance to to enhance their wedding portfolios.
"Often the brides roll around on the ground in leaves, in mud puddles, anything to trash the dress," continues Diep. "What is the timing of this," I asked. "Any time from the day after the wedding to years after."
"Years after, would that be a divorce celebration?" Diep laughs and said, "Could be." I am thinking that could make some sense, but the day after the wedding? What is that about? You know you just made a big mistake; you hated the dress; someone spilled red wine on it so it is already ruined; you and your husband made a pact to go naked the rest of your lives? What?
Can anyone help us understand this concept by telling us about your experience?
