Soon to be an art exhibition…Built
"Built is the coolest thing I could think of doing within my budget," says Tristan Hummel the organizer of an eighty artist colony that will create a city out of shipping containers in the parking lot at 1767 N. Milwaukee Ave., opening to the public on Aug. 12, 5 - 10 p.m. and Sat. Aug. 13, noon. - 10:00 p.m.
While, using shipping containers in or as works of art is not new, Hummel feels his approach is the forefront for creating territorial space. This is to benefit the artists. "Artists are not being charged to enter and will receive the proceeds of the event being generated from a $10 entry fee and beer sales."
Starting at noon on Aug. 12, artists will begin installing or creating their work. With no plans for tents, the hope is that no precipitation will be falling! Their website includes an online ticket component.
