Shoe collecting enthusiasts: camped out two days on Milwaukee in Wicker Park

Crowd waiting their turn to shop Adidas

As the Adidas Originals Chicago Flagship store opened its doors at 1532 N. Milwaukee Ave., in Wicker Park, Saturday morning, shoppers were lined up down Milwaukee and around the corner at Honore. Many had been there since Thursday night...waiting.

The wait was for a new sock-type pair of Pharrell Williams Human Race shoes in three different color combinations.

At $250 per pair, they were sold out by end of day. Not suited for current Chicago weather, in warmer climates and indoors, they will be envied.

The shoe is one in a line of collaborations between Williams and Adidas since 2014. It includes clothing as well as shoes.

Williams popularity started on the music scene as an artist in the world of R&B, rap and pop, he went on to be a Grammy-winning producer and song writer. His involvement in the fashion industry includes Chanel to G-Star as well as Billionaire Boys Club.

Adidas opened the Wicker Park store in October this with an homage to the "L" in its 4,966 square foot space, its largest in the world.
