1st Ward Alderman Flores thanks community and announces Friday's resignation

At last night's SSA #33 (WPB) monthly commissioners' meeting, 1st Ward Alderman Manny Flores thanked the commissioners for their work and announced that his resignation is effective end of business on Friday, January 15.  This evening he distributed his farewell thank you letter to the Ward.

Community comments regarding Alderman Flores move to the state level of government as ICC Chairman run the range of complete surprise to no surprise but curiosity as to why.  While everyone is wishing him well, community members' major concerns are focusing on who will be the new 1st Ward Alderman and how well he/she will work with the community.

Governor Pat Quinn announced that 1st Ward Alderman Manuel Flores is his appointee for Chairman of the Illinois Commerce Commission. “Manny Flores is an experienced and highly-regarded public servant who will provide a fresh viewpoint at this very important Commission,” said Quinn. “He excelled in the Chicago City Council and will do so at the helm of the ICC.”
