During the first Polish Triangle Market Place sponsored by the WPB (SSA #33), many shoppers were surprised and delighted to see the new farmers market venue on June 30 in the triangle of Milwaukee, Ashland and Division. Vendors indicated that business was slow but feel that it will build over the next several weeks.

Starting in late June there will be a new weekly "farmers" market in the Polish Triangle at Division, Milwaukee and Ashland called the Polish Triangle Market Place. "Our goal is to have about ten vendors selling a variety of items that would be great to take home for dinner," explained Eleanor Mayer, Program Director of the WPB (SSA #33).

This distribution is from the Greater Chicago Food Depository. No one receiving food has to show any type of identification or proof of economic need.

Peasants' Plot has been part of the Wicker Park Farmers Market since 2007, the year that Julia and Todd McDonald got married; bought twenty farming acres from a family trust in Manteno, IL; found a trailer on the side of the road; moved it and themselves to the farm; and put in a septic tank.

With a 10 a.m. opening Pastry Market in the Logan Square Kitchen the day before Valentines Day, all the vendors were sold out by 12:30 according to Tinycakes’ Stephanie Merello.

At one point Zina Murray, Logan Square Kitchen owner, was regulating entrance at the front door to avoid exceeding fire regulations.
