Armed robbery on North Western Thursday

A male victim had his I phone stolen at gunpoint Thurs., Feb. 2, in the 1700 block of North Western at 5:15 p.m.

Two offenders fled the scene but an I phone application led police to them. They are in custody but are not charged as yet, according to Chicago Police Department's News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.

A ceremony honoring six 14th Police District officers on Feb. 1 in Pulaski Park was prompted by the arrest of an armed robber within 12 minutes of the initial call for help. Proco "Joe" Moreno, 1st Ward Alderman, who initiated a Resolution, signed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, made the presentation recognizing the officers for their service.

The offender approached a 31-year-old female victim walking on North Ave. between Homan and Pulaski. The victim and the offender relocated to an alley on the 1400 block of Monticello where the offender held a large knife to the victim and sexually assaulted her.

Reports of offender(s) in custody for these crimes is not correct.

There are to offenders in custody relative to another robbery.

A string of strong armed robberies are occurring in the 14th District which are targeting women walking alone.

Located at 937 N. Wood St., the 13th Police District can be reached at 312.746.8350.  Originally built in 1960 the building is home to a staff of 253 which includes 216 officers who cover the area in three shifts 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The 14th Police District is located at 2150 N. California Ave. in a building opened in 1984.  With a parking lot accessed from Shakespeare Ave.,  this district's location is staffed by 320 people which includes 300 officers who cover the area in three shifts each 24 hours, seven days a week.

The WPB (SSA#33) has two bike rack solutions scheduled within their Wicker Park and Bucktown boundaries, accomplishing another item on their Master Plan.

One rack design is a simple tubing that will be used in their first on-street bike parking installation on Milwaukee Ave. by the Flat-Iron Building.

Service office hours are Monday thru Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In addition to regular service hours, Alderman Moreno hosts "Ward Night" every Tuesday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
