Chicago Police Department's DUI Strike Force Patrol scheduled for 14th District

In their efforts to encourage responsible driving behavior and abide by the "don't drink and drive" concept, the Chicago Police Department has  a DUI (driving under the influence) Strike Force Patrol. The Patrol will be in the 14th (Shakespeare) District between 8 p.m. on Sat., May 5 and 4 a.m., Sun., May 6.

A two-month investigation by 14th District tactical officers and Narcotics Division officers resulted in search warrants on Apr. 10 which lead to the arrest of 10 gang members and the recovery of multiple weapons and quantities of narcotics.

In the case of the Asrai Garden flower shop robbery and stabbing at 1935 W. North Ave. on Feb. 16, the accused Alexander Hampton was assisted by a sign language interpreter as he is a deaf mute. He was also assigned a public defender since he is unable to pay for an attorney.

Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy

A 9-year-old girl was walking to school in the 2000 block of North Point at 8:15 a.m., Wed., Feb. 22, when a silver four-door sedan similar to a Toyota drove up and a black male said "would you like a ride it's cold outside." The girl refused and the offender fled.
