Concert in the street

Everywhere she turned in the main square of Kyiv (Kiev) during the Maidan in the Ukraine from Nov. 21 to Feb. 22, Dr. Natalia Moussienko saw art. She will tell that story in a presentation of Art of the Barricades ~ Voice of Ukraine, Sat. May 17, 7:30 p.m., Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, 2320 W Chicago Ave., in Ukrainian Village.

Fires, burning tires, barricades, celebrations, flowers, music and expressions of love and anger are some of the scenes that led to a national uprising and are depicted in the art shown in her slide presentation. The evening will include a discussion of the artwork and its impact.
