Leaving your car running and unattended is generous but so 2020s, according to the Chicago Police Department's 14th District.

Between Dec. 28, 2020, and Jan. 3, 2021, six (6) cars were left unattended and running in Beats 1424, 33 and 34.

Neighbors, PLEASE for your sake and others, think before you act.

I am sure that you have noticed that these are unusual times. Most people are housebound or feeling confined, possibly depressed and maybe scared.

Scared because they see the horrors others are experiencing because of the pandemic. Scared because they have an underlying condition. Scared because they don't want to be another pandemic victim or worse yet statistic.

Others are scared of ending up on the streets because though their stack of bills gets bigger, NO MONEY is coming in. There are no jobs. Or, taking a job outside of their home could put themselves or family members in their home at higher risk to contract COVID.

Imagine that one of those desperate people is a family member, friend or neighbor.

Leaving your car running, unattended, could be all it takes for them to make a really bad decision that will make their life even worse.

So, if you want to give your vehicle(s) away, give it to one charity or consider selling it and donating the proceeds to multiple charities. It is safer, kinder and can do a lot of good for many.

Please stay safe and help others do the same.

There is a light at the end of this dark tunnel we have been and are experiencing...and it is NOT an oncoming train! It is a new safer "normal."  A normal that includes real, not virtual, hugging!
