Ashley and Scott Venable led the parade

Boo Palooza wasn't just for two legged kids, many a four-legged kid got to dress up for an afternoon in Wicker Park too. In fact, they had their own costume contest.

Paige Ormond (r) begins announcing the contest winners with Scott Venable and Alderman Moreno standing by

Some contestants were lovin' it and others...not so much. I am sure I heard at least two who were dressed in squirrel costumes commiserating about their dilemma. With a disdain playing around their eyes, one said, "I chase 'em, I don't want to look like one!" "No kidding!," said the other.

The judges included 1st Ward Alderman Proco "Joe" Moreno; Paige Ormond of Doggy Style Pet Shop; Rodolfo de Jesus of the 1st Ward; and Sylvia Ramos, Pritzker School. Prizes were donated by Doggy Style Pet Shop, Green Dog, Stella and Chewy's.

CaninePrisoner

Commander Flores (r) releases prisoner Ray to his owner

When it was discovered that there was a prisoner among the canines, 14th Police District Commander Linda Flores checked out the well behaved offender. Reluctantly she felt he had to be put in the custody of his owner Officer (not really) Pat Linnerud. The 14th District no longer has a holding cell.
