Malgorzata Kot named new director of the Polish Museum of America

Taking effect on Sept.1, Malgorzata Kot will be the new Managing Director of the  Polish Museum of America (PMA), 958 N. Milwaukee Ave. Selected by the PMA Executive Committee and the Board of Directors from a field of many qualified candidates, Kot has served the PMA Head Librarian for 19 years.

"I am genuinely grateful to the PMA Board for selecting me and am eager to embrace this new step in my career. Having led the Library in a positive direction, I am certain that I can be effective in leading the whole museum forward," said Kot.

Looking forward to the museum having a uniform, professional image, she looks forward to forging strong connections with the Polish community and institutions as well as non-Polish people and organizations. Dynamic programming and merchandising are on her list of things to be addressed.

"Mrs. Kot has good innovative ideas for the Museum," comments Maria Ciesla, PMA President. "She is known and beloved here and abroad." Ciesla will be retiring as of October after 10 years as President. However she will continue to work with membership as a volunteer.

Joseph Drobot, Chairman of the PMA Board and President of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America (PRCUA), is expected to re-elected to his PRCUA post at their August meeting.
