Neighbors report sounds of gun shots, circling helicopters and sirens in early morning

Sounds of gun shots, helicopters and sirens woke people in Wicker Park early Saturday morning.  Neighbors reported that the action was south of North Ave. and in the direction of Western Ave.

According to Chicago Police Department sources, a man shot at police and they returned fire in the vicinity of 2400 W. Potomac at 2:00 a.m., July 10, but no one was shot.  The offender was taken into custody.
