“It is more clear than ever that the Attorney General William Barr’s summary and press conference were attempts to provide cover to the President by cherry picking from the report," said U.S. Representative Mike Quigley, Illinois 5th District, Thursday after Special Counsel Mueller’s Report was released.

"Despite the Attorney General’s efforts to suggest otherwise, the Special Counsel left it to Congress to determine if the President obstructed justice. It is critical that the full, unredacted report and all underlying evidence be released to Congress so we can fulfill our constitutional obligation to conduct oversight of the President.

"Attorney General Barr and Special Counsel Mueller must also publicly testify before Congress as soon as possible.

Quigley, who serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, went on to say, “We cannot lose sight of the fact that we now have confirmation once again that Russia successfully attacked our democratic process.

"Congress must fully understand how this happened and take appropriate steps to preserve the integrity of our elections, institutions, and our democracy. This is not just a matter of corruption and accountability, but of national security.

“As we review this report, we must consider whether simply not committing a criminal act is the standard we want to set for the President of the United States.

"An action – or in this case, a series of actions – does not have to be a crime to be unethical or corrupt. I believe that as the American people read the report, they will recognize the behavior it details as unbecoming of the office of the President.”
