UPDATE: Spirited exchange may be seen here on CBS.

Incumbent Governor Pat Quinn, Democrat, and challenger Bruce Rauner, Republican, do another debate tonight, Tues., Oct. 14.

To be held in the DuSable Museum, it is being promoted as a debate geared to African American voters. CBS 2 will air the event at 6 p.m. in partnership with the Chicago Urban League and the Business Leadership Council.

The election is Nov. 4. For those who are not registered, registration is possible under “Grace Period” Registration. It is an extension of the period of time for a voter to register to vote, or to update their registration information. This “Grace Period” Registration extends registration from the normal close of registration up through and including the 2014 General Election day. Once registered, this voter may cast a ballot during this “Grace Period” at the election authority’s office or at a location specifically designated for this purpose by the election authority, or by mail, at the discretion of the election authority.

In April Quinn and Rauner spoke at the Illinois Education Association, which was the first time they shared a public stage. Here is that video.

First Debate
On Oct. 9, the debate was presented by WTVP in Peoria. Labeled as their "downstate" debate it was made possible by Illinois Public Broadcasting partners and the league of Women Voters

This gubernatorial race is expected to be a close one. Every vote counts.

Our Urban Times does not endorse a candidate in any race. What we do is to encourage everyone to be educated about candidates in each election.

Then, we encourage dialogue with candidates and other community members. And we strongly encourage you to be registered and VOTE!

All are encouraged to speak up below or on our Facebook page.
