The staple gun wielding attacker of Robert Zwolinski (Bob Z) on Mar. 6 has been identified as the daughter of 4th District IL House Rep. Cynthia Soto who Zwolinski was challenging in this week's Primary.

Jessica Soto, 26, and her boyfriend Bradley Fichter, 26, were booked and processed at 10:04 p.m. last night at the Chicago Police Department's District 2 headquarters, 5101 South Wentworh Ave. They were both charged with:

  • One Felony Count of Aggravated Battery/Use of a Deadly Weapon
  • One Felony Count of Aggravated Battery/Great Bodily Harm
  • One Felony Count of Aggravated Battery/Public Place

Fichter is also charged with One Felony Count of Disorderly Conduct-False Report of Offense.

While the offenders of the attack at Zwolinski's campaign headquarters, 823 N. Ashland, were known last week, they were not located until they surrendered on Mar. 16 at approximately 3 p.m.

The night of the attack, a Zwolinski worker was able to give the police the license plate number of the car the duo used in their escape from the scene.

"The tactical political move of waiting to turn in the assailants until the day after the election is appalling," says Zwolinski. "I'm hoping the police investigate whether Soto was delaying their efforts for her own political gain. If so, there should be major consequences."

Both Zwolinski and Megan Dunworth, who was also confronted by the staple gun wielding Soto on the 6th, were shocked when they learned yesterday that the female attacker was the daughter of House Representative Soto.

Zwolinski's challenge was unsuccessful in his attempt to unseat Cynthia Soto who has held the seat for 16 years.
