Two important Sunday events: Clocks turn back and 13th Police District March

You regain that hour lost last spring when we leaped forward one hour. Now at 2 a.m., Nov. 6 we get it back.

As long as you change your clock, you won't miss the 2:30 p.m. start to Blue Ribbon March at 937 N. Wood St. Police Station. The event is to voice opposition to the Mayor's proposed closing of the Wood Street Station.

Everyone, regardless of age, and even pets are invited to attend and bring your own signs and wear navy blue ribbons.

Shots fired on Milwaukee Ave. in early morning

An off-duty Chicago police officer in the 1300 north block of Milwaukee Ave. at approximately 3:48 a.m., Sat., Nov. 5,  drew his weapon after observing occupants in a car fire shots at people on the sidewalk.


Expanded curfew ratified by City Council

Enforced since Sept. 18, Chicago's new child curfew ordinance was unanimously ratified by City Council. Violation stats to date are 168 children under eleven and 2,132 young people twelve and over have been cited.

Roberto Clemente placed second Cooking Up Change contest

Slow-roasted pulled barbeque turkey sandwich with slaw, apple-berry ice, baked sweet potato chips won Roberto Clement Community Academy, Western and Division, second place in the annual Healthy Schools Campaign's Cooking Up Change contest Nov. 3. Their chef mentor was Chef Randy Zweiban of Province. First prize, in the twelve school cook-off, went to Chicago Vocational Career Academy team.
