CPD driver checks in the 14th District this week

As part of the Chicago Police Department's (CPD) efforts to keep City streets safe, a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) Saturation Patrol will be roving the streets of the 14th Police District from 7 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 30 to 3 a.m. Sat., Aug. 31.

They will be looking for signs of impaired driving as well as other alcohol-related and safety belt violations. In addition police vehicles equipped for speed detection will be deployed to apprehend speeding violators.

The BAT (Breath Alcohol Testing) Mobile unit may also be deployed. That unit allows officers to expedite the process of charging a person with a DUI prior to transporting an alleged offender into the nearest lockup for bonding.

The mobile unit also allows for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Saturation Patrol.

Stay safe out there!
