Cyclists attacked on The 606


Chicago Police Officers patrol the 2.7 mile trail by foot, bike and all terrain vehicles

Three attacks of cyclists on The 606 along the Bloomingdale Trail have prompted the Chicago Police Department to issue an alert. 

On July 2 at 1:15 a.m., 3510 W. Bloomingdale, and 22 at 5:29 p.m., 3300 W. Bloomingdale, a Black male(s) knocked two riders to the ground and demanded their belongings. Both victims were injured, according to the Chicago Police Department's News Affairs. 

On July 23 at 4:30 a.m., 1850 N. Ridgeway a third victim was beaten by two Black offenders who were armed with a small black handgun and demanded the victim's property. 

One offender was described as wearing a black "doo-rag," brown long-sleeved shirt and black shorts, while the other had short hair and wore a white tee-shirt and jeans. 

What you can do 

  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Pay special attention to any suspicious persons in your area.
  • Be conscious of suspicious activity or persons on the 606 trail
  • Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including any vehicle description and license plate information
