Man identified and charged in woman's beating and robbery

Charged on four charges, Deonta Terry, 27, was identified in the beating and robbery of a Wicker Park woman on Nov. 26.

Terry, from the 6300 block of South Ellis, turned himself into Area Central Detectives, knowing that he was the person in the CTA surveillance footage circulated by the Chicago Police Department's Area North Detectives on Nov. 28.

It was Nov. 26 at approximately 3:25 a.m. when Terry followed a 23-year-old woman from the Damen Blue Line station at Damen near North Ave. to the 1600 block of N. Bell Ave. There he grabbed and dragged her into a gangway. He beat, robbed and disrobed her.

Terry is charged with:

  • One felony count of Robbery
  • One felony count of Kidnapping-Force or Threat of Force
  • One felony count of Aggravated Battery/Strangle
  • One felony count of Attempt-Criminal Sexual Assault/Force

He is to appear in Central Bond Court, 2600 South California Ave., today.
