At approximately 11 p.m., Friday, May 29, shots rang out in the Chicago Police Department's 12th District around Chicago and Kedzie Blvd. A 35-year-old man was shot in the forearm.

While chaos was underway downtown in protests about George Floyd's death in Minneapolis, the passenger in a car, pulling out of a gas station, was caught in cross fire, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The victim was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, 1969 Ogden Ave., by his friend. He is in fair condition.

Area Three detectives are investigating.
