Two North Community Bank heists in the community Friday

This is the 1555 N. Damen North Community Bank location

Within six to seven minutes starting at 9:14 a.m. Friday morning, two branches of the North Community Bank were robbed in Wicker Park and Ukrainian Village.

Descriptions of the offender, a short black man in his 20s wearing dark clothing, were identical for both robberies. In both cases, the robber gave the teller a note but did not display a weapon.

Money was taken from both the 1555 N. Damen location as well as the 1600 W. Chicago location.

The Damen location was robbed on a Friday in August 2010 too. That offender was captured by the Chicago Police Department who received the 911 call and observed a person of interest who turned out to be the robber.

The current double heists are an ongoing investigations and in the hands of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
