Jose de Diego Elementary Community Academy is located at 1313 N. Claremont Ave.  Phone is 773.534.4451 and website is www.josedediego.org.  Classified by Chicago Public Schools as a neighborhood school, de Diego offers pre-kindergarten thru eighth grade classes.

Among its offerings it is has a literature and writing magnet program with a strong technology integration component. To qualifying students, it also offers accelerated instruction in algebra and science through the Specific Aptitude Program.

Facilities in the massive structure include two gyms, a track, a swimming pool, two science labs, two computer labs, a writing lab, two portable computer labs, a library with laptops and classrooms with computer centers.

Alice Vera, Principal

Historically the building was a high school, first as Northwest Division High School and then Tuley High.

Principal Alice Vera emphasizes that teaching and learning are lifelong activities. "Each day I learn something new from students, parents, staff members and community members. I take what I have learned and share/teach it to others. What a great way to learn," she states.
