Two 14th District Police Officers arrived on the scene of a robbery in the 1300 block of N. Leavitt St. which occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., Wed., Mar. 13.
A 26-year-old man saw a man approaching him from behind as another offender grabbed the victim around the neck in a choke-hold, throwing him to the ground.
The offenders took the victim's I-phone from his coat and took his wallet before fleeing on foot.
When the Officers learned that the offenders had stolen a cell phone, they tracked the location of the phone with a GPS locator. It led them to a Blue Line station. Then, the signal traveled south.
The officers notified the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) and asked them to stop the train at the Division St. stop. Boarding the last train car, they found two males who matched the description of the offenders.
Charged with one count of felony robbery, the accused are Michael Jones, 18, of the 4400 block of S. Greenwood Ave. and Albert Hill,17, of the 4500 block of S. Calumet Ave.
Both are being held in Cook County Jail after bond was set at $60,000 each. Jones is 6' and 200 pounds and Hill is 6' 3" and 190 pounds. Next court date for both is Mar. 20.
