Since the big guy can't come to Eckhart Park this year...local elves take over

This is only part of Saturday's festivities

Plywood cut, holes cut in and painting in progress...

While the real Santa won't be able to visit Eckhart Park, 1330 W. Chicago Ave., this year, there will be a celebration in front of St. Boniface, 1358 W Chestnut St, (corner of Chestnut and Noble) on Sat., Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon with free donuts and  hot coffee for all.

Megan adds art to the construction

That will happen because some resident elves have been working hard to make a special place for photo opportunities and some holiday cheer.

Following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Chicago Health guidelines, neighbors will have a chance to exchange holiday greetings.

Elf Teddy supervises the project

The elves are the Zwolinski family, Bob (Bob Z), and Megan (Dunworth) and little Teddy.

In their workshop, there has been the buzz of a saw and pounding of a hammer. Then "what to our wondering eyes should appear?" A wonderfully creative "photo booth."

Teddy supervised construction dude dad and artistic mom.

They all are looking forward to visitors coming to a fun decorated outdoor space on Saturday to enjoy some holiday cheer.
