Three community groups are having a Meet and Greet for three different local races Mar. 10 at Roots, 1924 W. Chicago Ave., from 6 to 7 p.m.

Chicago Grand Neighbors Association (CGNA), East Village Association (EVA) and West Town Neighbors Association (WTNA) have invited candidates running for Illinois State Senate 2nd District, Illinois 4th District State Representative, and 1st Ward Committeeman.

Two people are now vying for the Illinois State Senate 2nd District seat held by Willie Delgado since 2006. Angelica Alfaro and Omar Aquino are both expected to be at the Mar. 10 event.

Illinois 4th District State Representative Cynthia Soto has a challenger, Robert Zwolinski, an East Village resident. Soto was first elected into this office in 2001.

1st Ward Committeeman Proco "Joe" Moreno, who is also the 1st Ward Alderman, is being challenged by Maria Teresa Gonzalez.

"It is important for residents to be informed voters," says CGNA President Lyn Wolfson. "I hope they take advantage of this opportunity hear and talk with these candidates on Thursday."
