Chicago elementary public school student applications must be submitted to the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Office of Academic Enhancement for next year by Dec. 17. Applications are available online.

To be eligible for three-year-old Pre-K, students must be three years old on or before Sept. 1, 2011. To be eligible for four-year-old Pre-K, students must be four years old on or before Sept. 1, 2011. Kindergarten students must be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2011, while first grade, students must be six years old on or before Sept. 1, 2011.

Each student should select up to twenty schools to which they want to apply, identify the schools by code in the boxes on the application. The code for each school can be found on the website.

If a school's code is not listed, this means that the school is overcrowded and is not considering applications from outside of its attendance area for the 2011-2012 school year.

Some local schools with their individual code: Anderson (2060AN), BURR (2530BX), DE DIEGO (7420DE), DRUMMOND (3120DJ), LAFAYETTE (4400LF), LASALLE II (8040LM), LOZANO (4380LX), PRITZKER (6460PI), PULASKI (5520PL), ROQUE DE DUPREY (7510RQ) and SABIN (7790SB).
