Pysanka Workshop at the Ukrainian National Museum

The Ukrainian National Museum Young Professionals invite you to attend the Pysanka Workshop offered at the Ukrainian National Museum.

The traditional Ukrainian Easter Egg workshop will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sat. Apr. 12, under the instruction of pysanka artist, Mrs. Vera Samycia.

Cost: $35 (includes supplies and lunch)
Adults and children over the age of 12 can register for the workshop.

The exhibition features works by artists addressing themes of culture and ethnicity, survival, and the power of the human spirit in overcoming adversity.

Four artists with different life journeys are telling stories through their paintings, prints and sculptures. The Chicago artists include René Hugo Arceo, Mark Nelson, Yohanan Petrovsky-Shtern and ex-Chicagoan Peter Dallos.

Theatre Production Film: The Lion and the Lioness at the Ukrainian National Museum

The Ukrainian National Museum, 2249 W. Superior St., presents the screening of the Theatre Production film of Irena Saletska Kowal's play The Lion and the Lioness, starring the late Bohdan Stupka as Lev Tolstoy and Polina Lazova as Sonia Tolstoy.

This film is Kyiv's Ivan Franko National Theatre production. Irena Saletska Kowal's play makes use of Lev and Sonia’s extensive diaries and explores their tempestuous marriage, starting with Tolstoy’s death and ending the night before their wedding. (Film presented in Ukrainian only; no subtitles).

In this publication, the poet explores answers to eternal questions with unconventional results. This work is intertwined with the author's insightful self-awareness, creating a colorful kaleidoscopic variety of perspectives on being.
