Artistic Inspiration: It's all about mating
It is spring and thoughts are known to stray toward attracting a mate, but rarely does one see such an elaborate display of enticement as this underwater experience.
Who is this dude of the dramatic?
He is a Japanese Puffer Fish*. Though, he may not be colorful, his sense of design is amazing and inspiring.
His work ethic is challenging
Twenty-four hours a day for one week, he diligently sculpts a symmetric design, using only two tools.... his fins and mouth.
*Also known as a blow fish, they can inflate their stomachs and turn into a ball several times their normal size.
According to National Geographic, "Almost all pufferfish contain tetrodotoxin, a substance that makes them foul tasting and often lethal to fish. To humans, tetrodotoxin is deadly, up to 1,200 times more poisonous than cyanide. There is enough toxin in one pufferfish to kill 30 adult humans, and there is no known antidote."
