Donuts and Chicago make a perfect pairing at Stan's and Superior Donuts

Can you identify the location of the fictitious Superior Donuts?

Pelka and Godlewski place their order for free donuts at Stan's

"Superior Donuts," a new CBS sitcom promoted its début with free donuts at Stan's Donuts, 1560 N. Damen. Wicker Park resident, Margaret Pelka said, "Love it, donuts and Chicago make a perfect pairing."

"Free donuts on the way to the train on a cold morning, it woke me up," laughed Adam Godlewski.

Jermaine Fowler (2nd left) and Judd Hirsch (2nd from right) star in the new sitcom "Superior Donuts"

Earlier Judd Hirsch, who plays the owner of the Chicago shop, and Jermaine Fowler, who plays his millennial assistant, were on hand at Stan's talking with staff and donut lovers.

Originally written as a stage play by Pulitzer-prize winner Tracy Letts, the story is set in Uptown. The shop's façade in the sitcom is shown briefly in the opening minutes of the intro. Can you tell where it was shot?

Lou Kleinberg

"What is a true comparison between the Uptown setting and Wicker Park is the 'L'," said CBS reporter Vince Gerasole. A Crain's story about the show points out the many connections there are to Chicago, though it was not filmed here.

Shooting the live coverage of the "Superior Donuts" promo, along with Gerasole, was CBS camera man Lou Kleinberg. For those who may watch meteorologist Megan Glaros on channel 2, you may recall how she admires great live shots of Chicago from time to time. Then she often says, "I bet that's Lou, Lou is that you?" The camera pans up and down, affirming it is Lou.

Those enjoying free donuts at Stan's saw a CBS camera man shooting the "Superior Donuts" promo. If Glaros would have asked, "Lou, is that you?" The camera would have panned up and down.
