Impaired drivers will be targeted by 14th District police patrols overnight

The streets in the Chicago Police Department's 14th District will have roving police cars looking for intoxicated drivers tonight, Fri., Feb. 28 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Sat., Feb. 29.

Officers will be looking for alcohol-related and safety belt violations. With speed detection equipment, officers will be able to apprehend speeding violators.

The Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be deployed.

The BAT Mobile allows officers to expedite the process of charging a person with a DUI prior to transporting an alleged offender into the nearest lockup for bonding.

The mobile unit also allows for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Saturation Patrol.
