Beth Sholtis named Interim Executive Director at Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber
The Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce (WPBCC) Board named Beth Sholtis as Interim Executive Director of the Chamber, according the Chamber Board President Ginna Ryan of Mauge.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work more closely with the WPBCC Board and the community groups in Wicker Park and Bucktown. We have an inspiring group of people who are dedicated to the neighborhood and by working together we can do some great things," Sholtis said.
As Assistant Program Manager for Special Service Area #33 (WPB SSA #33) for the last few years, Sholtis knows people in the business and the rest of the community. That will no doubt serve her well as they head into the big Wicker Park Fest along Milwaukee Avenue July 26 and 27.
Next steps to replace Adam Burck who started with the Chamber in September 2010 will begin once the festival is over. Burck resigned earlier this week.
"Going forward, we are confident that we will employ an Executive Director that will continue to build on the momentum that Adam has created," said Ryan.
In his resignation letter, Burck said that he would "relish the rich experience of working in this community" and listed key activities during his tenure which included a diverse list from increasing membership, launching new events, supporting not-for-profit organizations and being commended by the Chicago's Office of the Inspector General (IGO) for operating one of the most transparent SSA programs in the City (July 2011 Report: Best Practices and Recommendations for Special Service Area Transparency)
