Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy

Teenagers and adults are invited to an Open House Sat., Feb. 28, at the Chicago Police Department's 12th District, 1412 S. Blue Island, Community Room, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The event is for the Police Explorer and Peer Jury programs. All teens can receive Community Service Hour credit for participating in these programs.

SCAM ALERT: One-ring cell phone scam


DO NOT call back to numbers that call then hang up after the first ring. According to the Chicago Police Department, auto-dialers are targeting cell phone numbers across the country.  The danger to consumers is not in receiving the call, but in calling back.

A female juvenile was walking east on the 3100 West block of Belden in the 14th District's Logan Square area on Feb. 19 at approximately 5:10 p.m. A white male, parked in a gray, 4-door sedan said to the victim, "Come inside, I'll take you home". 

CAPS suggestions for winter safety: Weather Preparedness

ManInSnowStrmWinter weather preparedness is the key to winter safety according to Chicago Alternative Policing Strategies (CAPS). 

"Also, if you know of an elderly person who may need some assistance, please give them a call or stop by and say hello," suggests 12th Police District's CAPS Seargent Juan Clas. "It's times like these when we all have to work together and help each other.

Anthony Jaime, son of Nancy Arroyo, CAPS community organizer in the 13th and now the 12th Police Districts, was in a horrific auto accident last week and is fighting for his life.
