Going beyond food…Wicker Park and Logan Square indoor Farmers Markets have changes

Logan Square's selling spaces are surrounded in game tables...

With local food sourcing more limited in winter, long established Logan Square and newcomer Wicker Park indoor farmers markets serve up different experiences and fun as well as food.

St. Patrick's Day loop activities on Saturday and St. Patty's Day on Sunday has changed this weekend farmers market schedules. Wicker Park will NOT have a Mar. 16 market. Logan Square, however, will be open on Sun., Mar. 17., in the Emporium Arcade Bar, 2363 N. Milwaukee (just south of Fullerton), from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. [Rumor has it that hangover cures may be available in the Emporium.]

"From the Start"

Logan Square
"From the Start" is one of the non-food attractions for this week's Logan Square market. Grade school musicians, Max Allard (banjo, guitar), Otto Allard (mandolin) and Ruben Whitaker (guitar, ukulele, vocals) will have toes tappin' with their blue grass renditions. The local trio met as toddlers and have focused "playtime" on making music and increasing their fan base.

The market area will be filled with produce farmers, foods processed by farmers and bakers and other products along with prepared food vendors.

Then with just two more Sundays, March 16 and 30, left in Logan Square's season run, the Easter Bunny will be searching for carrots in between greeting kids on March 31.

Located in the large first floor room in the Chop Shop, 2033 W North Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,

There will be the regular bakery, honey, jams, dog treats and compost vendors along with prepared food vendors of tamales, crepes and humus as well as community tables.
