Norwegian American Hospital: The Pediatric Mobile Health Care Center Rolls On
Ever wish there was a way for your children to get dental care on the go? Norwegian American Hospital (NAH) is doing just that by bringing the health care to local schools, churches and community centers.
This past week on June 25th, NAH held a fundraiser for their pediatric dentistry mobile van that began in April of this year. They estimate that they will be able to provide dental care for around 1,200 children this year. Not only do they have dental pediatric care, they also have a Care-A-Van that provides immunizations, physicals, eye and hearing exams.
Norwegian American Hospital Pediatric Mobile Health Center has been working with a number of schools including Moos Elementary, Prosser, North Grand, and Manely to help provide dental care to their students.
The idea of the Pediatric Dental Van was originally implemented through a collaboration from NAH's Jose Sanchez, CEO, and Michael Curran, VP of Business Development, as well as Jason Korkus of Sonrisa Dental.
Even though NAH does not plan to add more vans for the next two years, they will be delivering a great deal of service. There are other hospitals in Chicago that also offer a similar service, such as Roseland Hospital, Advocate and Loyola. Due to this past week's fundraiser the program will continue to go strong and the van will be able to continue this priceless, year-round service for the children of the Logan Square, West Garfield Park, Bucktown, Humboldt Park and many others on the West Side.
