Three-day health insurance Enroll-A-Thon kicks off Friday at PSMEMC


To help individuals avoid the minimum $695 fine for not having health insurance, Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center (PSMEMC) is kicking off a three-day Enroll-A-Thon and mini health fair at noon, Fri., Jan. 29, on the 3rd Floor in the Saint Mary and Elizabeth Room, 2233 W. Division St. 


“The process is relatively easy,” said Stonish Pierce, regional chief ambulatory and ancillary officer at PSMEMC. “We offer free assistance to get you enrolled change your insurance plan. While you are here you also can take advantage of free health education and screening programs on select days, including blood pressure screening and dietary consultations.” 

Hours for the enrollment event are:

Friday, Jan. 29: noon  – 10 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 30: 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 31: 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. 

“Our efforts in the past have resulted in more than 12,000 members  in our community obtaining affordable health insurance.” 

Those who are not enrolled in a health plan by Feb. 1 will face a penalty when filing their income tax of $695 or 2.5 percent of their income, whichever is greater. 

PSMEMC was chosen as one of a handful of regional sites to host a Get Covered Illinois health insurance enrollment event.
