Observe/participate: 16 weeks - "Tuesdays at the Triangle" starts May 17
This Tuesday, May 17, the Fourth Season of Tuesdays at the Triangle kicks off a 16-week sensory delight at a new time, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Polish Triangle, the gateway to four neighborhoods (Wicker Park, Pulaski Park, Noble Square and East Village). Located at Milwaukee, Ashland and Division, it is the transportation hub for the Blue Line, buses, drivers, bicyclists and walkers.
With the first performers being Cimbalovka Moravska, part of the Old Town School of Folk Music's 77 Beats and the local food vendor being Cevapcici, it will be an evening of Eastern European delights for your ears and taste buds.
features the violin and cimbalom with clarinet and voice in an array of Moravian music. They will have bodies swaying and toes tapping. 77 Beats is a musical travelogue of Chicago's 77 neighborhoods and will include a series of “pop-up” performances representing the music and culture of each neighborhood, paired with other cultural elements such as cuisine, visual arts and traditions in unique and unexpected locations, throughout spring, summer and fall 2016.
Funding for 77 Beats is from IncentOvate Program, part of the Cultural Grants Program of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, which provides more than $1.7 million annually in direct funding to artists, creative professionals and arts and cultural organizations across Chicago.
