Do you want to know when the latest news and events will be posted to our site? Well now you can because Our Urban Times has a Twitter page! Log on to www.twitter.com and follow @OurUrbanTimes to get the latest news and updates.

And for all of those who aren't social media enthusiasts, here's a little cheat sheet for you:

First, in order to be able to follow Our Urban Times on Twitter, you will need to create a Twitter account. Open up your web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Internet Ecplorer, and using the address bar, located at the top of the window, type www.twitter.com, and when you are at the page, there will be a green button on the right side of the page that says "Sign Up Now!" Click it and from there you can enter your account information: what your name is where you live, what you're interested in, and make a cool screename for yourself! Make sure your screename is unique as some names have already been taken. Twitter will automatically notify you if you can use a particular name or not.

After you've set up your account, you can begin "following" other users. For instance, if you want to follow OurUrbanTimes, move your cursor to the right side of the page where you'll see a search box. Type in "oururbantimes," and search results will come up. At the moment there is a known technical bug on Twitter that prevents accounts from showing up in Twitter searches. Our account is one of those being affected. Twitter is working to resolve this as fast as it can, and this was not because of any error on our end.

After finding our account, you will now be able to follow us! On the OurUrbanTimes Twitter page, click on the button that says "Follow" underneath our screename. Now it will be added to your followers list and you will able to see all of our tweets!

If you would like to reply to us, simply type "@OurUrbanTimes," (without the quotes) followed by any questions or comments you may have for us.

If you're a person that is totally in tune with social media but it's hard for you to find our tweets between the sometimes millions that are posted every day, you might find it useful to create a "list" and organize your followers by a particular groupiing that you would like to associate them with. For example, OurUrbanTimes is a newspaper, and say you have other newspaper's that you follow. By creating a list for "newspapers" you'll not only be able to seperate  those newspapers from other tweets, but OurUrbanTimes as well. To do this, go to your Twitter home page. On the right sidebar, there will be a section called "Lists." Using your followers, pick certain accounts, like OurUrbanTimes, that correspond to the "newspapers" grouping and add them to that list.  By clicking on these lists you will then be able to see only the newspapers you've added to that list, and not the rest of those whom you follow.

Another way you can let others know about OurUrbanTimes is by including it in Twitter searches, using what is called a "hashtag," or more commonly known as, "#" or " the number sign," "pound button," and so on. Simply type, "#OurUrbanTimes" (without the quotes) along with whatever kind of message or comment you would like to let others know about our newspaper.

And for those of you who've noticed, at the bottom of each story page, there is an icon that you can use to post our stories directly to Twitter, and let others know about it.

Hopefully, this will help you in spreading the word about our newspaper. Let's get tweeting!
