Comradery develops as cleanup is achieved in the 32nd Ward

Christine Jensen heads up the clean-up efforts in Alderman Scott Waguespack's 32nd Ward. In just the last month, she and teams of workers have cleaned up and brightened up a small park by a day care center and planted bushes by the Bucktown & Wicker Park Library. On Sat., June 16, they are tackling the east side of Western Ave. between Armitage and Fullerton.

Five sculptures being installed in Wicker Park area -- part of the Lakefront Sculpture Exhibit

Begun in 2002 as the brainchild of then 43rd Ward Alderman Vi Daley, the Lakefront Sculpture Exhibit (LSE) included 8 pieces selected from 50 submissions. With more than 70 submissions for the 2012 event, 30 were chosen. Five will be located throughout the WPB (SSA#33) area.

Chicago Artists: get archived during one of three WBEZ intake sessions

Artists in Chicago are invited to be part of a project to archive artists' stories. Artists may submit their information as part of Sixty Inches From Center's partnership with the Chicago Artists Archive at Harold Washington Library by going to intake sessions at WBEZ bureaus.

Reverend Ruth VanDemark loses battle with Cancer

Reverend Ruth VanDemark, pastor of Wicker Park Lutheran Church (WPLC), 1502 N. Hoyne Ave., passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, June 9,  in Northwestern's Prentice Women's Hospital as a result of cancer which had metastasized.
