Chicago Teachers Union said "yes" to contract but another fight is coming
While students and teachers are back in the classrooms, the Chicago Board of Education will not vote on the teachers' contract until their October meeting. However, the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) ratified the Board's contract on Oct. 4 with 79.1% approval. |
Columbus Day: its closings, non-closings and history
Columbus Day on Mon, Oct. 8, is A Federal holiday, but not mean that all places or services are closed in Chicago. In Illinois, government offices, banks and schools are normally closed for that day. This year, however, schools WILL BE OPEN in Chicago as will libraries. Beyond that, check your destination before heading there this Monday, Oct. 8. |
