Armed robbery and aggravated hijacking alert from CPD's 12th District


A community alert regarding armed robbery and aggravated vehicle hijacking from Chicago Police Department's 12th District was prompted by five incidents in the District's near west section since July 21. 

In these incidents, which were in beats 1213,1221,1223, an offender(s) approaches victims, displays a handgun or threatens a beating and demands the victim's vehicle. 

The offender(s) are described as 18 to 25 year old black males between 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing between 150 to 175 pounds. 


  • 1800 block of W. Walnut Tues. July 21 at 8:45 a.m.
  • 1500 block of W. Haddon Wed. July 22 at 1:45 a.m.
  • 1600 block of W. Maypole Fri. July 24 at 3:30 a.m.
  • 800 block of N. Paulina Sat. July 25 at 12:30 a.m.
  • 1900 block of W.t Ohio Mon. July 27 at 7:45 p.m. 

What you can do

  • Always be aware of your surroundings 
  • Ensure all doors are locked prior to leaving 
  • Report suspicious activity immediately 
  • If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm  
  • Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc...) 
  • Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police 
  • Ensure to have friends and family periodically check on your residence if gone for extended periods of time 
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information  
  • Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
