Attempted child luring in Wicker Park

It was 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 1. A female juvenile was walking on the 2000 block of West Schiller St., near A.N. Pritzker Elementary School in Wicker Park.

"Excuse me," said an unknown black man from his black colored 4-door vehicle to the juvenile twice. 

The offender stopped then exited his vehicle and approached girl. He grabbed her hand, kissed it and did not let go as she attempted to pull away. 

He said, "Give me a chance." After exclaiming she was only 13-years-old, the offender stated, "Oh, well you're really beautiful, wait, you're not 13." 

The girl pulled away, and the offender entered his vehicle and drove westbound on Schiller.

The offender is described as a male African American, approximately 60 to 65 years of age, wearing a black and white jacket with blue jeans. 

The make, model, and license plate number of the black vehicle is unknown at this time.

  • Call 911 to report any suspicious persons or activity
  • Walk in pairs
  • Don't talk to strangers or approach strange vehicles
  • Be aware of your surroundings travel in well-lit and populated areas
