Delivery man carjacked at Milwaukee and Western Monday night


Approached from behind by an offender brandishing a handgun, a 40-year-old delivery man was carjacked Monday night, Jan. 4, at 8:40 p.m. in the 1900 block of N. Milwaukee Ave., near Western and Armitage Avenues in the Chicago Police Department's  14th District.

The incident occurred as the victim returned to his red Honda Accord with deliveries. The offender got in the car to drive off but the victim hung on to the car's door, according to the Chicago Police Department. 

The victim's efforts resulted in abrasions to his hands and knees in addition to pain in the area of his rib cage.  He was transported to AMITA Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, 2233 W. Division St. 

The offender is described as a black male, 20 to 25, 5' 11" to 6'. He was wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black ski cap.

Area Five detectives are investigating. 

The most recent rash of car jackings in the 14th District was in mid-December when four occurred:

  • 2000 Block of N. Mozart Ave. on Dec 17, 2020 at 6:54 p.m.
  • 1700 Block of N. Francisco Ave. on Dec 20, 2020 at 5:04 p.m.
  • 1700 Block of N. St. Louis Ave. on Dec 20, 2020 at 5:38 p.m.
  • 1600 Block of N. St. Louis Ave. on Dec 20, 2020 at 9:41 p.m.
