Three charged in Ukrainian Village cell phone heist

Three 20-year-old offenders are charged with five felonies in the Feb. 2 cell phone store armed robbery in Ukrainian Village's 2300 block of W. Chicago Ave.

Richard Manjarrez-Aragon

Richard Manjarrez-Aragon was arrested Feb. 26 at 9:09 p.m. in the 2700 block of W. Cermak, where he lives. He was charged with:
  • One Felony Count: Robbery-Armed w/Firearm
  • One Felony Count: Agg Kidnapping-Conceal Identity
His bond is set at $100,000.
VerushukaSaez-SanchezBkng

Verushuka Saez-Sanchez

Verushuka Saez-Sanchez, arrested Feb. 26 at 3:35 p.m. in the 1400 block of S. Blue Island and resides in the 1700 block of W. 19th St. and was charged with:

  • One Felony Count: Robbery– Armed w/ Firearm and Theft

Her bond is set at $10,000.

AngelVargas

Angel Vargas

Angel Vargas was arrested Feb. 26 at 2:21 p.m. in the 1200 block of S. Ashland and resides in the 3200 block of N. Kostner. His charges are:

  • One Felony Count: Robbery-Armed w/Firearm
  • One Felony Count: Agg Kidnapping-Conceal Identity

His bond is set at $100,000.

All three are in custody in Cook County Jail, according to Matt Walberg, Deputy Press Secretary, Cook County Sheriff’s Press Office. "They are scheduled to return to court on Mar. 4 in Branch. 

Incident
At 10 a.m., the morning of the heist, three offenders, brandishing handguns, entered the store and demanded the store employee to open the register. Then they demanded the employee to show them where their phones were kept. 

After forcing the employee into a bathroom, the three 20-year-olds took a safe containing new phones and cash before fleeing the store. They left the scene in a white sedan.
