Alert: Armed robberies in 14th District

Two armed robberies with a handgun have been committed by a group of young offenders in October.

In these robberies, the victim is engaged in a conversation by one member of the group and another offender from the group displays a handgun and announces a robbery. 

Incident times and locations

• 1400 block of N. Damen on Oct. 22 at 3 a.m.
• 1500 block of N. Kedzie on Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. 

Offenders' Description

They are described as 2 or 3 male blacks in their twenties, ranging in height and weight from 5'6" to 6'0" and between 140 and 160 pounds. In addition, there are also two male white or Hispanic offenders also in their twenties, between 5'3" and 5'10" tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds. 

What you can do

• Be aware of your surroundings.
• Immediately report any suspicious activity.
• Be aware of large groups, and remain calm if confronted.
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including any vehicle description and license plate information.
