Blue Line service changes thru Oct. 28

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is renovating multiple Blue Line stations as part of the Your New Blue modernization program.

They caution that this may add extra travel time for riders.

Boarding change between Clark/Lake and Damen
To 4 a.m., Mon., Sept. 23

Board/exit all trains on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform at the Grand, Chicago, and Division stations.

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Clark/Lake and Damen.

Division Station temporary closure
To 4 a.m. Mon., Sept. 23

Please use the adjacent stations at Damen or Chicago.

A free bus shuttle will operate between the Division and Chicago stations.

#56 Milwaukee buses are also available as alternate service to reach Damen or Chicago stations, downtown, or other destinations along the Blue Line.

Grand Station north entrance stairway temporary closure
To Mon., Oct. 28 or completion

This is the street-to-mezzanine entrance stairway at the Grand Blue Line station, on the northwest corner of Halsted Street and Milwaukee Ave.

Enter and exit the station via the remaining stairway on the southwest corner at Grand & Halsted/Milwaukee. For your safety, only cross streets at crosswalks.

Note: Due to repair work on the Grand Avenue Bridge over the North Branch of the Chicago River, #65 buses will be rerouted with some bus stop changes, thru Sept. 27.

Grand Station

O’Hare-bound trains bypass Division Station
From 4 a.m., Mon, Sep 23 thru 10 p.m., Fri, Oct. 18 or completion

O’Hare-bound trains will not stop at Division station.

  • For O'Hare-bound service from Division station, take a Forest Park-bound train to Chicago and transfer to an O’Hare-bound train.
  • For O'Hare-bound service to Division station, take an O’Hare-bound train to Damen and transfer to a Forest Park-bound train.

Consider using the adjacent Blue Line stations at Chicago or Damen, where trains in both directions will continue to stop.

#56 Milwaukee buses connect with both adjacent stations, where Blue Line trains will stop in both directions, at Damen and Chicago.

Boarding change between Racine and Jackson
Mon, Sept. 23, Wed., Sept. 25 and Thurs. Sept. 26
Nightly 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. next day

Board and exit all trains on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform at the UIC-Halsted, Clinton, and LaSalle stations.

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Racine and Jackson, resulting in minor delays.

Service is being affected due to IDOT construction on the I-290 Expressway.

Bus substitution between Jefferson Park and Rosemont Stations
From 10 p.m., Tues., Sept. 24 to  2 a.m. Wed., Sept. 25

Shuttle buses will replace rail service between Jefferson Park and Rosemont.

Trains will operate between O’Hare and Rosemont, and between Jefferson Park, downtown, and Forest Park.

These changes are because the CTA will be making signal improvements to allow trains to operate more efficiently along the Blue Line as part of the Your New Blue modernization program.
