Help paint the Community Wall Mural in Logan Square on Sunday

Help turn this blank wall into a beautiful work of art!*

UPDATE: The colors are already appearing...waiting for all to participate starting Sunday!

By Saturday early afternoon...background for the Community Wall Mural is on the wall**

Be part of a community art project Sunday in Logan Square at Medill & Milwaukee behind the tracks, the building is at 2930 W. Medill, on Sunday, July 26 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Painting materials will be provided, painters need to dress for painting.

The Community Wall Mural is a reality because of a gaggle of collaborating collaborators that have worked to bring art to the public for decades. They have engaged local residents, artists and businesses for the last 5 years as they have maintained the community wall.

This year, it became obvious that they had gone beyond being able to maintain the existing mural. They decided that a complete do over was needed.

Tracy Kostenbader, Gretchen Hasse, Brian Herrera and Brett Swinney with Flash and crew missing are the leaders of the project*

On May 12, they held a brain storming  session led by Brett Swinney and Tracy Kostenbader of AnySquared and Flash of ABC. They followed that with a House Party benefit on June 27 that helped them raise the $800 needed to prepare and create a new mural.

The wall has been prepared and is a wall of white, soon to have outlining applied for the beginning of painting the new wall on Sunday.

Individuals and families are encouraged to be part of its recreation, rain or shine on Sunday. This is a community project that is planned, created and maintained by all volunteers.
