Latest carjacking in Wicker Park: Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center parking lot

In the latest carjacking in the Chicago Police Department's 14th District, an employee at AMITA Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center was carjacked in the hospital parking lot on W. Division St. in Wicker Park at 6:34 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 28.

The Asian male victim was leaving the lot when he was approached by two black males. 

The offenders forced the hospital employee out of his 2018 Hyundai Accent and fled West on Division. 

No injuries were reported and no offenders are in custody.

TIPS

  • Ensure all doors are locked after entering your vehicle 
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
  • Pay special attention to any suspicious subjects loitering in the area
  • If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm  
  • If there are children in the car and offender is taking your car, tell them there is a child on board
  • Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc...) 
  • Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police 
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information  
  • Dial 9-1-1 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including any vehicle description and license plate information
