DUI patrols will be roving the streets in the 14th District

While Mother Nature may be a major factor in reducing automobile speed on Chicago streets tonight, streets in the 14th District will be saturated with the roving DUI (Driving Under the Influence) Saturation Patrol.

They will be checking for signs of impaired drivers from 7 p.m., Sat., Jan. 30 to Sun., Jan. 31 at 3 a.m.

Officers will be looking for speeding, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for speed detection will deploy to apprehend speeding violators.

In addition, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be deployed. That unit allows officers to expedite the process of charging a person with a DUI prior to transporting an alleged offender into the nearest lockup for bonding.

The mobile unit also allows for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Saturation Patrol.

Stay safe out there.
