A pair of carjackings occurred minutes apart at Wicker Park around 10 p.m. Thursday night, Jan. 28, bringing a total of three such events within a few blocks of each other in less than seven hours.

At 10:04 p.m. at Damen and Schiller, "two black and one Hispanic men approached an Uber driver, tapping on the victim's passenger side window. The driver attempted to drive away and the offenders shot at his car," explain the Chicago Police Department representative.

When the victim got out of his four-door red colored Toyota, one of the offenders pistol whipped him in the head with a gun.

The offenders fled the scene, with the victim's cell phone, heading southbound on Damen Ave. in the victim's car, with license plates AF36635.

The victim was taken to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center at 2233 W. Division St. and treated for minor injuries.

In the second incident, six minutes and one block away, two black males in a Green Honda CRV cut off a driver on Wicker Park Ave. at Damen. The Honda passenger approached the victim who was driving a grey 2016 Audi A7.

Armed with an Uzi-type gun, the offender demanded the victim exit his vehicle. The victim complied.

The offender took the victim's wallet and cell phone as well as the Audi with license plate number BU65087. Both offenders fled southbound on Wicker Park Ave., one in the Audi and the other in the Honda.

At this time there appears to be no indication that the crimes were related, police say.

Investigations are ongoing.
